“It’s not the destination, it’s the journey.”
When I was much younger, I had absolutely no idea what that saying meant. I foolishly assumed it was nonsense, and pretty much ignored it. I mean…why would anyone care about the journey?
Over the years, I’ve learned that most clichés exist with good reason. Even though they tend to sound corny and cheesy like nachos, there is at least a kernel of truth within. And this particular one, I’ve found to be more truthful than most.
As a Project Executive for the past 20 years, it’s no surprise to anyone that I’m in favour of goal-setting. Having clarity of vision is essential to accomplishing whatever amazing and challenging goals you are working toward. Still, don’t let the pursuit of those goals take away from your awareness and enjoyment of the day-to-day process. Otherwise, you just may miss out on most of the fun!
A New Journey.
The first leg of my upcoming journey is a 6-month adventure. It involves several new and exciting changes, and will serve as a launching point for a 2-year project that aims to change the world for the better (zero pressure!).
Emerston Group inspires, empowers, and leads Transformations in how people work, play, and live. As President and Founder, I’ve been fortunate enough to have led many different types of projects for several different clients, and worked with some incredible teams. With this initiative, there is an excitement I’ve never felt before, as this will be *by far * my largest, most complex, and most personally meaningful project.
More details will be forthcoming over the next half-year; for now I’m thrilled to share the following with you:
Project Purpose: We will work with our clients and partners around the world, to help create meaningful Professional, Personal, and Societal Change, by:
- Providing new easy-to-use Change-related concepts, tools, and techniques
- Driving concrete, impactful, and meaningful Project-based change
- Helping balance a ‘Profit/Growth’ paradigm with ‘Sustainability/Quality of Life’.
A Shared Journey.
During the next six months, I’ll be posting each Tuesday about my experiences, observations, and thoughts related to the project launch (targeting March 2019), as well as other related and/or assorted goings-on.
I’m hoping that you will join me, and that you find it an interesting, entertaining, and helpful trip! All feedback (positive and not-so-positive!) is appreciated, as it will be invaluable along the way, whether it’s through blog comments, Facebook or LinkedIn messaging, or e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org). Thanks in advance for your input.
I’d also ask that you share this blog with others who might be find it useful, such as entrepreneurs, small business owners, bloggers, program/project management professionals, speakers, and anyone else you think just might be plain curious!
Thanks for your time, and here’s looking forward to the next step!
